New South Wales Minister for Digital and for Customer Service Victor Dominello has stated that he suffers from Bell’s palsy – a medical condition that causes a temporary weakness or paralysis of facial muscles.
Dominello took to social media to reveal about his diagnosis after he got several comments about his “droopy eyes” after Wednesday’s COVID-19 press conference in Sydney
He was speaking at the press conference alongside NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
“About 48 hours ago - I felt a pain in my skull behind my right ear. This morning I woke up with pins and needles on the right side of my tongue. But I did not notice any droopiness around my eye,” he said confirming that he suffers from Bell’s Palsy.
His diagnosis was a reminder to everyone to look after their health, even while most people are focused on the COVID-19 crisis, he said.
The disease usually resolves on its own within six months.

What is Bell’s palsy?
Bell’s palsy causes sudden weakness in one half of the face. The attack of Bell’s palsy can occur when the nerve that controls your facial muscles becomes inflamed, swollen, or compressed. This medical condition causes one side of your face to either droop or become stiff.
The disease may be a reaction to a viral infection, and rarely occurs more than once.
