World Surf League action has been given the green light in Victoria, with nine Australians vying for honours as Rip Curl Pro action continues at the Winki Pop break.

First in the water is Queenslander Ethan Ewing, going head-to-head with Brazil's Gabriel Medina in heat two of the men's round of 16.

Other home favourites in action for the men include Jackson Baker, who takes on Brazil's Yago Dora, and Ryan Callinan , who is up against Maxime Huscenot, of France.

Reigning champion Tyler Wright takes the next step of her title defence against Hawaii's Carissa Moore, while world champion Stephanie Gilmore's reward for a dramatic last-16 win over Lakey Peterson on Monday is a heat against Brazil's Tatiana Weston-Webb.
