Nexsphere, a new Australian firm has announced plans to develop a 1GW "over-the-horizon" wind farm off the coast of north-east Tasmania, the latest in a series of offshore wind proposals following the adoption of federal legislation.
This Bass Offshore Wind Energy project is expected to be seized between 500MW and 1,000,000 MW and will likely expand to 2GW or more later. As per the company, the over the horizon wind farm can generate enough energy to power more than 325,000 homes.
Nexsphere is an Australian private offshore renewable energy exploration and development firm that was previously known as Brookvale Energy. Nexsphere’s Bass Offshore Energy Project got a thumbs up by the Commonwealth Government as the government finally introduced the - Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Energy Bill 2021.
With the Bass offshore and wind energy project, the company targets significant green hydrogen and green ammonia facilities. Also, the company believes that the project can export electricity through the Marinus Link to Victoria, which is yet to be built.

The company expects to have the project go live by 2026, where stage one will include around 35 turbines with a durability of 40 years.
