New Zealand
New Zealand’s vaccine strategy has been slow and steady so far. As of the last week, there have been 668,115 vaccines administered to people. So, to say, the country is still only 9% ahead of its plan, meaning it is taking a slow and calm approach towards the vaccine, which may be due to the next to no cases of the disease in the country currently. This might also be the reason for delayed border opening for the country. Recently, the Westpac group announced that there should be special leave provision made so that more and more employees get vaccinated at the earliest without worrying about losing their workdays.

With around 4.2 million doses of the vaccine having been delivered as of 1 June 2021, Australia is also struggling to keep up the numbers. There are risks of market share losses involved due to the country not being able to open its borders on time, since people have not been vaccinated. Simon Birmingham, Australia’s Finance Minister, has admitted that the vaccine program had not gone as expected in Australia and there was need for pace to be picked up, considering several factors, one of them being the upcoming winter season in the country.
