James Cummings has anointed In Secret as one of the best horses in Godolphin's Australian operation after a contemptuous win in the $2 million Coolmore Stud Stakes.
In a Victoria Derby day race that can shape Australia's thoroughbred breeding if it is won by a colt, In Secret upstaged her male rivals in a victory that left Cummings awestruck.
"You very rarely see them drawing away over six furlongs up the middle (of the track) like that," Cummings said.
"She put in an absolutely stunning performance."
Anamoe is an obvious stable star for Godolphin but Cummings insists In Secret deserves to be held in the same regard as his Cox Plate winner.
And he made the claim long before In Secret defeated C'est Magique to lead home a fillies quinella in the Coolmore at Flemington on Saturday.
Assessing the stable's options for last month's $15 million Everest, the world's richest race on turf, Cummings offered up In Secret as a potential runner to the Godolphin hierarchy.
"They said 'what are you talking about'? I said this horse, In Secret, is one of the best horses we have," Cummings said.
In Secret ultimately missed the Everest to be saved for a Coolmore bid and she didn't disappoint Cummings or jockey James McDonald as a $3.10 favourite with a two-length win over C'est Magique ($41).
Buenos Noches ($9) came from last to be the first colt across the line when taking the minor placing.
In the third Group One race on Derby day, Sydney mare Icebath lowered the boom on New Zealander La Crique in winning the $1 million Empire Rose Stakes.
Hugging the rails to give trainer Brad Widdup his first elite-level win, Icebath ($11) defeated Mirra Vision ($61) and Excelida ($61).
La Crique started the $1.85 favourite but couldn't finish the race off in winding up fourth.
