Born during the devastating 1944 bombing of Sofia, Gloukhov grew up in a fractured family and a politically repressive system. Despite societal pressure, he refuses to join the Communist Party, choosing instead a more dangerous path: freedom. His escape to Brussels marks the beginning of a determined climb—starting as a cab driver and culminating in a doctorate in political science.
But Gloukhov’s aspirations do not stop at academic success. In Brussels, he meets an American diplomat, and their cross-cultural love story leads him to the United States.
