Film Victoria has been rebranded as VicScreen and declared an AU$40 million investment in multi-pronged initiatives to foster the growth of the digital games sector, in addition to VFX, film, animation, TV and online projects.
Film Victoria is a statutory agency of the Victoria State Government. It invests in film, television and media industries of Victoria.
Film Victoria CEO Caroline Pitcher, Minister for Creative Industries Danny Pearson, Videogame Developer Liam Esler and Producer Joanna Werner launched the Victorian Production Fund.
The fund would invest in Victorian-led productions to offer captivating and diverse content for overseas and local audiences. Over the next four years, it is anticipated to infuse AU$130.5 million into the Victorian economy while generating the equivalent of 3,700 full-time employment.

A new AU$2.06 million Specialist Placement Program has also been created to address crucial skills gaps across the screen ecosystem in response to the sector's increasing need for skilled workers. This new skills development program will help expand the local talent pool for positions like post-production supervisors, production accountants, games marketers, location managers and script editors, which are in high demand.
In addition, both the Specialist Placement Program and the Victorian Production Fund are sponsored by the Victorian Government's AU$191.5 million VICSCREEN strategy, which invests in new events, talent, enterprises and skills to strengthen the state's screen sector.
