Summary

  • BREAKING NEWS: The US President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have both tested positive for COVID-19 after Hope Hicks also got a positive result.
  • Earlier today, Ms Hicks coronavirus test also turned out positive, after travelling to Cleveland for the first presidential debate.
  • The Trumps and Ms Hicks conditions are still not defined as mild or tough.

In his most recent tweet, the US President Donald J. Trump announced that both him and his wife Melania Trump contracted COVID-19.

After Mr Trump’s close adviser Hope Hicks revealed her positive coronavirus test, the President revealed that he and Ms Trump will both self-isolate as a precaution, while they wait for their results.

Now that their results got back, Mr Trump revealed that their tests came back as positive.

The Trumps quarantine is officially in place, just after the first presidential debate with rival Joe Biden, which was held on Tuesday in Cleveland.

Mr President stated that Ms Trump and himself will ‘get through this TOGETHER’.

As Ms Hicks and Mr Trump travelled together to and from the presidential debate, it is no surprise that they both contracted the virus, with a possibility of spreading it to other aides that travelled with them aboard Air Force One.

Even before the President posted these results, the Wisconsin rally was supposed to take place later today but got cancelled as a preventative measure.

Now that Mr Trump’s state is official, his re-election campaign may take a hit, as the President needs to stay isolated for 14 days, according to the measures in the USA.

The second presidential debate was supposed to happen on 13 October, but with this news, the event will need to get postponed.

As a 74-year-old, Mr Trump also poses a risk of having complications with the disease, as people of older generations are less immune to the virus symptoms.

Both Ms Hicks and Mr Trump spent a certain amount of time with other presidential staff. Consequently, there is a possibility that many more people may turn up with positive results, as the contagious virus spreads notoriously quick.

Earlier this month, The White House stated that Mr Trump is taking the coronavirus precautions very seriously and is getting tested frequently. The statement also included that all safety measures are implemented during Mr President’s trips and during events that he attends.

Ms Hickss career for the Trumps began in an interesting fashion – she started off as a model for Ms Trump’s fashion brand, following with the job role for Mr Trump later that same year.

Ms Hicks' changed a few roles within The White House and initially left her job in March 2018. She then came back to the Office in February, this year.

Ms Hick’s is still considered as one of the closest advisors that respond to Mr President.

Unfortunately for Mr Trump, there is no way of postponing the entire election process, so there is a big question mark about how these elections will eventually turn out.

The presidential elections are scheduled to be held on Tuesday, 3 November 2020.
