Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, along with his spouse, will visit New Zealand in the month-end, their first trip since the borders of both the countries were forced to shut down due to the COVID- 19 pandemic.

Morrison will visit NZ’s Queenstown to attend the annual Australia-New Zealand Leaders' Meeting, which is being held between 30-31 May 2021.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is looking forward to welcoming the Aussie PM, stating that the NZ-AU relationships reflect strong ties.

Morrison, too, expressed that both the neighbouring countries shared deep-rooted bonds of friendship, trust, and trade, and the commencement of the Trans-Tasman travel bubble was a perfect example in this regard.

Talks On About Integral Matters Pertaining To The Trans-Tasman Neighbours

The deliberations between the two countries would focus on reviving the tourism industry across both the countries, COVID-19, and other related challenges, plus issues pertaining to regional and security matters.

The visit would also witness the celebration of the quarantine-free travel between both the countries.

Both the leaders will hold talks with Aussie and Kiwi tourism, business, and community leaders, besides attending a Highlanders game along with visiting the Arrowtown War Memorial.

Also, in her pre-budget speech, Jacinda Ardern had also mentioned leading a trade delegation to Australia in July 2021, where she intended to visit several Australian states in order to further strengthen the Trans-Tasman bond between the two nations.

Joint Conference Held In April 2021 Between The Foreign Ministers Of Both The Countries

In April 2021, Marise Payne, Australia’s Foreign Minister, visited the Kiwi nation to meet the NZ PM and the country's Foreign Affairs Minister.

A press conference was jointly held by the Foreign Affairs Ministers of both the countries, which included discussions around China and the Five Eyes, as well as the citizenship of the accused terrorist, Suhayra Aden, whose passport was cancelled by Australia in 2020.
