Arbor Day Foundation, Claritin® Partner To Plant Trees at New Orleans School

LINCOLN, Neb., July 31, 2024 /3BL/ - Claritin® sponsored a tree planting project in April as part of its DiversiTree initiative.

Claritin® worked in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation — the world’s largest membership-based tree planting nonprofit — and local planting organization NOLA Tree Project. More than 30 trees were planted outside a New Orleans school impacted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Dozens of school children helped with the planting.

“These trees will help restore the beauty of the school’s landscape and reduce extreme heat in the area. Through their partnership and focus on biodiversity, Claritin® is helping grow resiliency in this community,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation.

All of the trees planted in the project were female trees. Research indicates that male trees produce pollen while their female counterparts don’t. But because female trees often drop messy fruits and seed pods, experts say male trees are still used more often in urban landscaping. The resulting high pollen counts extend allergy season for many people.

Claritin’s DiversiTree Project aims to reduce pollen rates by planting more female trees.
