Instructors can create more interactive learning experiences using D2L Lumi, Creator+ and H5P

MELBOURNE, Australia, July 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- D2L, a global learning technology company, has been chosen by University of Otago, New Zealand's oldest premier university, to help support all its programmes, online short courses, and for its staff training.

The University of Otago found D2L Brightspace was the winner to replace its legacy platform, Blackboard. With D2L Brightspace, the University of Otago can leverage the reimagined D2L Creator+, powered by H5P, to help instructors create more high-quality, delightful learning experiences, and the powerful D2L Lumi – D2L's AI-native offering within D2L Brightspace – designed to help save instructors time, create more compelling content, and enable a more highly accessible learning experience.

"We are excited to partner with D2L and become the first New Zealand University to use Brightspace as its Learning Management System. We believe the Brightspace platform will meet our needs with opportunities for enhancing our learning and teaching with the features available in Creator+ with H5P," said Professor Tim Cooper Dean of Learning and Teaching at the University of Otago.

"We are honoured to partner with the University of Otago, a global leader in higher education renowned for its commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering critical thinking," said John Baker, President and CEO of D2L. "By choosing D2L Brightspace, Otago is helping to enhance its innovative learning environments to better empower students, faculty, and communities with more transformative educational experiences. At D2L, we share Otago's passion for helping to create and promote knowledge to enrich individuals and society, and we're thrilled to help support their mission to shape a brighter future."
