Over 1,100 volunteers deliver hands-on impact through environmental and community service initiatives

HONG KONG, June 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- AXA Hong Kong and Macau ("AXA") proudly marked its "Week for Good 2025", AXA's annual global volunteering campaign, with over 1,100 AXA volunteers participating in initiatives that aim to restore nature, support underprivileged communities, and raise awareness about inclusive and sustainable development.

Now in its 15th year, the campaign this year centred around two key pillars of the Company's sustainability strategy: Climate Change & Biodiversity and Inclusive Protection. Climate change and biodiversity reduction are two of the most pressing challenges of our time. Deforestation, soil degradation, and habitat destruction are threatening the stability of ecosystems and increasing vulnerability to natural disasters. According to figures published by the United Nations, between 2015 and 2019, at least 100 million hectares of healthy and productive land each year has been degraded, impacting the lives of 1.3 billion people.[1] Meanwhile, the past decade (2010 – 2019) has been the warmest on record ever, bringing with it massive wildfires, hurricanes, droughts, floods and other climate disasters across continents.[2]

The development of a caring and inclusive society and support for underprivileged communities remain key concerns for all. AXA recognises that tackling these complex issues requires collaborative efforts and active participation. This year's "AXA Week for Good" focused on these topics, enabling volunteers to demonstrate their commitment and contribute to environmental restoration with community support.

Sally Wan, Chief Executive Officer, AXA Greater China, said, "AXA has always upheld the importance of 'act for human progress by protecting what matters', with full dedication to protecting our employees, our communities, and our planet. During this year's AXA Week for Good, the Company united our volunteers to promote environmental sustainability and support underprivileged communities. We are actively addressing the most pressing challenges of our time, focusing on climate change, biodiversity, and inclusion, while inspiring lasting change in our communities. Looking ahead, we will continue to strengthen community engagement and promote a more inclusive and sustainable future through innovative approaches."

Empowering c ommunities and r estoring n ature t hrough p urposeful a ction

Between 16 to 27 June, over 1,100 AXA volunteers participated in four flagship initiatives, delivered in collaboration with trusted local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and social enterprises.

Supporting environmental restoration and sustainable agriculture, over 240 AXA's volunteers, including employees, financial consultants and their families and friends, joined the "Tree Planting Day" organised by the World Green Organisation (WGO), planting 300 native tree seedlings in degraded farmland areas in the New Territories as part of WGO's "Tree Partner Programme". They also assisted in harvesting locally grown produce, totaling 86 kilograms, including pumpkin, eggplant and choy sum, was donated to the Hong Kong Student Aid Society, providing nutritious meals for approximately 100 children and youth in need and to promote a healthy diet.

In parallel, AXA volunteers took part in Dignity Kitchen's "Pay It Forward" programme, where they prepared and packed 400 hot meals for the homeless, disabled individuals, and low-income families. This initiative helps address food insecurity while fostering connection and dignity among the most vulnerable communities.

Upholding its commitment to health and community empowerment, AXA collaborated with Time Auction to host an "Anti-Mosquito Natural Balm Handicraft Workshop". The workshop was led by women from the community, including single mothers and retirees who shared their skills and personal journeys, educating volunteers on how to craft eco-friendly mosquito balms, reducing dependence on chemical-based products. The balms were donated to local underprivileged groups, including the homeless, waste pickers, and the elderly, offering heartfelt care.

To further encourage creativity and compassion, AXA also co-hosted a "Kyo-Yuzen Art Jamming Workshop" with Dyelicious. Volunteers hand-decorated reusable indigo-dyed tote bags, giving each one a unique artistic touch. The bags were donated to sick children and people in need, offering not only a functional gift but also a gesture of encouragement and care.

Through these integrated experiences, AXA's volunteers dedicated their time and energy to both environmental causes and community empowerment, living out the Company's purpose and making a positive difference in the lives of others. AXA continues to play a leading role in driving climate transition, biodiversity conservation, and social inclusion. By organising various initiatives, AXA aims to turn its sustainability commitments into real-world impact, empowering people to act, collaborate, and create lasting positive change.
