Here is a piece of good news for Twitter users. Now, you can get paid in bitcoins by your followers for the content you create on the social media platform.

On Thursday, CEO Jack Dorsey announced that it will allow Twitter users to tip their favourite creators using bitcoin. It was in May this year that the company had announced its Tips feature for content creators.

Twitter becomes 1st Social Platform to Embrace Crypto

The feature will be launched globally to all Apple iOS users this week. According to the company, the feature will become available for Android users in the next few weeks. The company also said that it will not draw any cut from the money sent via the Tips feature.

How to send or receive bitcoin tips

Twitter said that it will integrate the Strike bitcoin lighting wallet service for creators to receive bitcoin tips. Users will also be allowed to add their bitcoin address to send and receive these tips.

On Thursday, crypto wallet company Strike partnered with Twitter allowing users to send tips in bitcoin to other Twitter users. The network is currently only available to people in the US and El Salvador.

It was in May this year that the company had announced its Tips feature for content creators.

Meanwhile, Twitter is also adding new payment services to Tips including online fundraising platform GoFundMe and Brazilian mobile payments app PicPay.

The social media platform also announced that it would soon explore non-fungible token (NFT) authentication on its platform.Dorsey is known to be a vocal supporter of cryptocurrencies in the past. He has even made some sizeable investments in bitcoin.
