Ukraine has said it will issue non fungible tokens to fund its military.
Ukraine’s vice-prime minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, made the announcement via Twitter on Thursday, stating that the government would soon issue NFTs to help pay for its armed forces.
Fedorov added that the government had withdrawn earlier plans to reward cryptocurrency donors with an airdrop - a free digital token distribution to a community in order to encourage participation in a project.
The announcement comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pleaded for more assistance from the West in fighting Russian forces.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was going as per plan, stating the two nations are “one people” and vowing to “destroy anti-Russian sentiment created by the West.
