When someone owns a business, a large stream of money usually goes in and out of the business daily. With high quantities of cash being exchanged every day, this means the person who has to count that money at the end of the day has a significant and sometimes long job. When that person has to count each bill by hand, it can be grueling and complicated. A way to minimize mistakes and increase efficiency is to use a money counter.

A money counter is an excellent way to count the money flow that comes into a store or business. But, to do this one must be able to hold the money that needs to be counted.

Depending on the needs of the business, the amount of money held in a money counter will be different.

Hopper Capacity

Something to consider when buying a money counting machine is the hopper capacity. The hopper capacity is the part of the device where the money that is being sorted gets placed. The larger the hopper capacity you have, the more bills you can count at a time. And, depending on the type of machine that you buy, it can count anywhere from one hundred to five hundred bills at a time. Now, your machine may count thousands of bills per minute, but if the hopper capacity can only hold a hundred bills, you will have to reload the machine after each of the hundred bills has been counted.

Factors to Determine Which Machine to Buy

There are a few factors to consider when buying your money counting machine and what size hopper capacity you need for your business.

The Size of the Business: Whether your business is bigger or smaller will determine whether you need a smaller hopper capacity or a bigger hopper capacity. For example, suppose the company is a bank. In that case, a larger hopper capacity is needed, but if the business is smaller and not a lot of money is being exchanged daily, a machine with a smaller hopper capacity will work fine.

The Traffic of the Business: If the business gets a lot of foot traffic coming in and out daily, then a higher capacity hopper will be needed due to the amount of money being counted every day. Likewise, if the business does not have a large customer base, a smaller capacity hopper will do.

The Amount of Money to Spend: Of course, every business has a budget, especially if the company is small. Therefore, this is an essential factor in considering what money counter to buy. If the business needs a money counting machine to keep more bills, then the cost of the device will be slightly higher than one with a lower hopper capacity.

Time: Counting money can take time. Therefore, if the business needs to reduce time with this task, then a money counting machine with a higher hopper capacity is essential.

Remember, not all money counting machines are created equal, so make sure to pick the right choice based on the business’ needs.
