How will it impact political landscape?

The current pandemic scenario in Australia just ahead of the national polls has great potential to pose a threat to the Morrison government.

The rise in cases brings the need for higher supply and availability of medical facilities. Any dearth of healthcare elements, such as test kits, medicines, vaccines, hospital beds or critical care units, will turn the wave of sentiments of the people of the country.

To keep the interest in its favour, the present government led by Prime Minister Scott Morrison must ensure a strong response to curb the growing number of cases. The government must put in place strict COVID-19 safety protocols and measures in order to ensure the situation doesn’t aggravate.

It has become more worrisome for the government as the unwanted guest has been successful in infecting masses despite high vaccination rates. Over 94% of Australians aged 16 years and above have received at least one dose, while more than 92% of the population is fully vaccinated.

Bottom Line

Even if the elections are held, the situation that prevailed throughout the pandemic, the way it affected peoples’ lives and how the federal government handled it, everything is expected to have a reflection on the outcome of the upcoming elections. It would shape the future of the country.
