The TSX Composite Index slipped slightly from its record high Wednesday, March 30, as the technology sector lost 2.25 per cent. Energy gained 0.55 per cent. The benchmark index was in the red by 0.05 points, 11.26 points, to 22,075.96. Shopify’s stock lost 5.4 per cent. Lithium Americas Corp’s stock gained 11.7 per cent.

Volume actives
TC Energy Corporation saw 11.5 million shares traded, making it the most active stock. It was followed by the Bank of Nova Scotia that saw over 9.6 million shares switch hands, and Suncor Energy Inc saw 6.8 million shares traded.

Wall Street update
The Dow saw a loss of 65.38 points, 0.19 per cent, to 35,228.81 points, while the S&P 500 pushed lower by 29.15 points, 0.63 per cent, to 4,602.45 points. Nasdaq’s benchmark sank 177.36 points, 1.21 per cent, to 14,442.28.
Commodities update
Gold gained 1.11 per cent to US$ 1,933.50. The price of Brent oil gained 2.92 per cent and was at US$ 113.45/bbl and that of crude oil was down 1.62 per cent to US$ 104.24/bbl.
Currency news
The loonie gained 0.18 per cent compared to the US dollar while USD/CAD ended at 1.2480. The US Dollar Index was at 97.83 against the basket of major currencies, down 0.58 per cent.
Money market
The US 10-year bond yield was down 1.67 per cent to 2.358 and the Canada 10-year bond yield was down 1.81 per cent to 2.437.5
