WiseTech Global (ASX:WTC), a prominent software company in the logistics and supply chain industry, has announced significant changes to its leadership structure. The company confirmed a new employment agreement with its founder and former CEO, Richard White, who will continue to play a pivotal role within the organisation. White has been reappointed as executive chair and chief innovation officer, with a new 10-year term set to commence in late February. This new position reflects his ongoing commitment to WiseTech's growth and strategy development.

Richard White's Role and Responsibilities

As part of the updated agreement, Richard White will be tasked with leading the company's innovation initiatives and overseeing its product roadmap. His responsibilities include guiding the commercialisation of new products, managing strategy development, and ensuring the effective implementation of these strategies across the organisation. White will also focus on WiseTech’s succession planning, a key element in ensuring the company’s continued success.

White’s salary will remain unchanged from his previous tenure as CEO, maintaining the same compensation package he has received since 2015. His new role is designed to keep the company’s vision on track, ensuring long-term growth and continued shareholder value.

Appointment of Zubin Appoo as Chief of Staff

In line with these leadership changes, WiseTech Global has appointed Zubin Appoo to a newly created position. Appoo will serve as chief of staff and deputy chief innovation officer, supporting White in executing the company’s strategic goals. With nearly 15 years of experience at WiseTech, Appoo is well-versed in the company’s operations and has been instrumental in shaping its direction in the past.

After leaving WiseTech, Appoo held several senior leadership roles, including serving as the chief technology officer at multiple companies. His wealth of experience and familiarity with WiseTech’s culture are seen as valuable assets in this new capacity. Appoo's role is designed to facilitate smoother delegation of tasks and establish clearer reporting pathways, helping to optimise the company's operational efficiency.

Search for Permanent CEO Continues

The company also provided an update on the ongoing search for a permanent CEO, which is expected to be finalised before the annual general meeting scheduled for November. In the interim, Andrew Cartledge will continue as CEO, staying on beyond his previously planned retirement at the end of the year if necessary. The company’s focus remains on identifying a leader who will align with its long-term vision and strategic objectives.

Strategic Direction Under White’s Leadership

Richard White's return to a leadership role at WiseTech underscores his deep commitment to the company’s future. With a focus on innovation, product development, and long-term strategic planning, WiseTech aims to continue expanding its global presence and enhancing its product offerings. As executive chair and chief innovation officer, White's experience and leadership will be central to navigating the challenges and opportunities in the rapidly evolving logistics sector.
