Highlights

  • Pointerra (3DP) to support the US Army's geospatial research program.
  • Pointerra3D platform provides real-time intelligence for military and humanitarian use.
  • The US$499 million GRIDS IV program could significantly boost Pointerra’s revenue.

Perth-based software company Pointerra (ASX:3DP) has secured a crucial role as a subcontractor to Leidos, a global technology company, in the prestigious US Army’s Geospatial Research, Integration, Development and Support (GRIDS) IV program. This program is part of a significant $499 million initiative aimed at enhancing the US Army’s geospatial capabilities.

The GRIDS IV program, managed by the Army Geospatial Centre (AGC), is designed to deliver critical geospatial intelligence to military personnel, commanders, and other defense components. The program's objective is to build on the success of previous GRIDS iterations (I-III) and focus on advancing AI and machine learning technologies for real-time data integration in complex warfare scenarios. The initiative is expected to run through to May 2030, ensuring ongoing development and support for various military operations, including terrain mapping, enemy movement prediction, and autonomous vehicle guidance.

For Pointerra (3DP), this collaboration opens new avenues in the rapidly growing defense sector. Through this partnership with Leidos, Pointerra’s 3D platform—Pointerra3D—could be deployed to offer real-time geospatial insights. The cloud-based platform leverages AI-driven digital twins, providing mission-critical information with unprecedented speed and scale. Pointerra (3DP) anticipates that this technology will offer substantial value, enhancing situational awareness for defense forces involved in both military operations and humanitarian missions.

Pointerra’s (3DP) involvement will depend on specific task orders issued to Leidos by the AGC, with the company poised to generate significant revenue based on these opportunities. As of now, Pointerra (3DP) has seen growth in its North American customer base, with a notable increase in data allocation and software licenses from existing clients. This indicates a solid demand for its advanced geospatial technology, particularly in sectors like defense, surveying, and mapping.

The GRIDS IV program is a strategic move by the US Army to address the modern challenges of real-time data delivery and system integration for both combat and humanitarian missions. The focus on AI and rapid data integration is essential to supporting the fast-paced nature of modern warfare, where real-time intelligence can make all the difference.

As the demand for innovative geospatial solutions grows, Pointerra (3DP) is well-positioned to capitalize on the expanding market. For investors looking into sectors like defense and technology, it is important to keep an eye on companies like Pointerra, which could provide robust growth potential. Moreover, for those tracking leading Australian stocks, it’s worth noting how Pointerra could align with broader trends seen in the ASX200 and its place within the broader defense and technology sectors.
