- Initiative aligns with South Korea’s broader smart city vision
X2M Connect (ASX:X2M) has been awarded a significant $3 million contract to drive a major public protection initiative in Seoul, South Korea. This project aims to distribute 100,000 smart personal alarms — dubbed “Help Me” devices — which form the technological backbone of the city’s 2025 Portable Safety Alarm rollout. These IoT-enabled gadgets are designed to instantly connect users with police and emergency contacts, broadcasting their location in real time.
With a goal to enhance safety for women and vulnerable groups, the initiative is part of Seoul’s broader strategy to curb rising violent crimes. Each device, when triggered, activates a siren and links seamlessly with the city’s smart safety ecosystem, including the Ansimi women’s safety app, CCTV networks, and emergency command centers.
Expanding Safety Through Technology
These rechargeable keychain-sized devices mark a leap in integrating personal security into everyday urban life. Backed by the Seoul metropolitan government, this initiative showcases how real-time technology and smart infrastructure can converge to elevate public safety. It also sets the stage for future scalability, with plans to expand the program to one million devices — presenting substantial long-term prospects for X2M Connect.
This development also resonates with the digital transformation trends witnessed across the ASX200 stocks, where tech and IoT players continue to attract interest for their role in shaping smart cities.
X2M’s Smart Infrastructure Footprint
X2M Connect’s presence in South Korea continues to strengthen. The company already supports over 500,000 devices through its IoT platform across multiple cities such as Busan, Incheon, Gyeongju, and Ulsan. These existing deployments focus on digitised water monitoring, further proving the flexibility and depth of its platform across smart utility and safety domains.
The Seoul contract builds on this foundation, tapping into the demand for scalable safety technologies that governments can integrate into existing infrastructure. As urban centres globally look to modernise, the solution from X2M Connect offers a blueprint for digitally powered public security.
With a global outlook and a robust base in South Korea, X2M Connect is steadily reinforcing its position in the smart city and IoT sectors. The Seoul project not only brings visibility but also signals wider commercial traction within government-backed digital initiatives.
