  • The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 closed down just 4.90 points or 0.07% on ASX today. 
  • Majority of the sectors ended lower. Financial sector led the gains, while A-REIT incurred most losses. 
  • Information Technology ended 0.23% lower today.

The S&P/ASX 200 index (INDEXASX:XJO) was quoted 4.90 points or 0.07% down at 6642.60 points  on ASX today. Most of the significant sectors closed in red. 

Meanwhile, the S&P/ASX 200 Information Technology sector (INDEXASX:XIJ) closed 0.23% lower today (13 October 2022).  

This article features some leading Information Technology stocks under ASX50 index and their respective performance on ASX today. These stocks are WiseTech Global Limited (ASX:WTC), Altium Limited (ASX:ALU), Xero Limited (ASX:XRO), Link Administration Holdings Limited (ASX:LNK), BrainChip Holdings Limited (ASX:BRN).  

WiseTech Global Limited (ASX:WTC) 

Software developer for the logistics industry, WiseTech Global Limited (ASX:WTC) shares closed 2.556% lower at AU$53.360 per share today. 

Over the last 12 months, WiseTech’s share price has appreciated by almost 7% on ASX and on a year-to-date basis, the software company’s share price fell over 10% on ASX (at 1:33 PM AEDT today). 

With a market capitalisation of AU$17.9 billion, WiseTech is a software solution provider to the global logistics industry.

Altium Limited (ASX:ALU)

Computer software and hardware business Altium Limited (ASX:ALU) shares ended tad higher on ASX. Altium’s share price gained 0.085% to close at AU$34.930 per share today. 

Within a span of the last 12 months, Altium’s share price has gained approximately by 4% on ASX and on a YTD basis, Altium’s share price declined by over 21% on ASX (at 1:39 PM AEDT today). 

Altium Limited is a computer software and hardware developer and dealer. The company is listed under the information technology sector on ASX. Altium deals with the business of Micro-controllers, and Embedded Systems, Makers and Content, Board and Systems, and Other Segments. Altium has its presence in the Asia Pacific, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, and Europe.

Xero Limited (ASX:XRO)

Accounting software developer for small businesses Xero Limited (ASX:XRO) shares closed 1.383% higher at AU$71.840 per share today. 

In the last one year, Xero’s share price has declined by almost 47% on ASX and on a year-to-date basis, Xero’s share price declined by almost 51% on ASX (at 1:48 PM AEDT today). 

With a market capitalisation of AU$10.63 billion, Xero is an ASX-listed software business developing accounting software. Xero is dedicated to serving only small and medium-sized businesses across the world. Xero was founded back in the year 2006, and it is originally based in New Zealand. Xero operates mainly through a subscription business and holds subscribers in more than 180 countries at the moment. 

Link Administration Holdings Limited (ASX:LNK) 

Financial data operator Link Administration Holdings Limited (ASX:LNK) shares ended 0.310% lower on ASX on Thursday. Link’s share price stood at AU$3.210 per share. 

Over the last 12 months, Link’s share price has dropped by almost 24% on ASX and on a YTD basis, the company’s share price fell over 42% on ASX (as of 2:03 PM AEDT today). 

With a market capitalisation of AU$1.65 billion, Link Administration Holding Limited is listed under the information technology sector on ASX. Link primarily specialises in offering technology-driven fund administration solutions and data analytics solutions to its clients. 

BrainChip Holdings Limited (ASX:BRN)

 Australian technology business BrainChip Holdings Limited (ASX:BRN) shares ended 1.714% higher at AU$0.890 per share on ASX today. 

During the last 12 months, BrainChip’s share price has gained significantly by 128.21% on ASX and on a YTD basis, the company’s share price has gained by almost 13% on ASX (at 2:09 PM AEDT today). 

BrainChip Holdings Limited is listed under the information technology sector on ASX as the company is involved in the tech-enabled designing business. The company primarily focuses on its SNAP technology which stands for Spiking Neuron Adaptive Processor. In addition to that, BrainChip also offers both software and hardware solutions to its clients regarding advanced AI and machine learning. The company is headquartered in Perth, Australia.
