Indiana Resources Ltd (ASX:IDA) has achieved notable success in its exploration activities at the Minos prospect within the Lake Labyrinth Shear Zone (LLSZ) in South Australia's Gawler Craton. The company recently announced the discovery of a parallel zone of mineralisation at the northwest end of the prospect, coinciding with high-grade gold intercepts from its June reverse circulation (RC) drilling program.
Significant Drilling Results
The RC drilling program, conducted in June, targeted the Minos prospect, revealing a 600-metre strike extent of mineralisation that remains open in all directions. Notably, the gold is found at shallow depths, with some assays indicating near-surface mineralisation. This discovery highlights the potential for a significant gold resource within the region.
The assay results from this drilling campaign are particularly encouraging. Highlights include:
- 26 metres at 1.66 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold from 33 metres, including 1 metre at 10.1 g/t from 35 metres.
- 6 metres at 5.26 g/t of gold from 43 metres, including 1 metre at 17.3 g/t from 44 metres.
- 3 metres at 10.3 g/t of gold from 68 metres, including 1 metre at 25.9 g/t from 69 metres.
These results underscore the presence of high-grade gold mineralisation within the Minos prospect, which remains open along strike and at depth. The discovery of a parallel zone adds further potential to the project, suggesting the possibility of additional mineralisation across the broader prospect area.
Strategic Exploration Focus
Indiana Resources Ltd's Executive Chair, Bronwyn Barnes, expressed confidence in the continued exploration success at Minos and the broader LLSZ project. She highlighted the significance of the recent discoveries and outlined the company's strategy for accelerating exploration activities.
"Minos continues to deliver strong, high-grade gold results that demonstrate parallel lode repetitions across strike and to the south of the prospect area. The prospect remains open in all directions, offering substantial exploration potential," Barnes said.
With the company's solid financial position, Indiana Resources is well-positioned to expand its exploration efforts at Minos and other key targets within the LLSZ. The upcoming months will see intensified drilling activities aimed at unlocking further value from the Central Gawler Craton.
Broader Exploration Efforts
In addition to the ongoing work at Minos, Indiana Resources is awaiting assay results for rare earth elements (REE) and further gold prospects at Hopeful Hill, also within the LLSZ. These results are anticipated to provide additional insights into the prospectivity of the region, potentially leading to new exploration targets.
Barnes emphasized the company's commitment to delivering value to shareholders through a focused exploration program that capitalizes on the high potential of the LLSZ. "I look forward to seeing the full value of our projects in the Central Gawler Craton demonstrated for shareholders in the future, and we will be releasing details of our expanded exploration programme in due course," she added.
Future Plans
Indiana Resources Ltd is preparing for another round of RC drilling at the Minos prospect, scheduled to commence in September. This phase will aim to further delineate the mineralisation and test the extent of the newly discovered parallel zone. The company’s proactive approach to exploration is expected to generate significant news flow in the coming months, as it continues to uncover the potential of its tenements in the Gawler Craton.
As Indiana Resources advances its exploration programs, the focus remains on systematically expanding and de-risking its gold assets, with the ultimate goal of defining a significant resource at Minos and other prospects within the LLSZ.
