Highlights
- Unico Silver delivers best-ever silver result at Cerro León
- Drilling expands both oxide and sulphide mineralisation zones
- Results strengthen transition roadmap to development phase
Unico Silver (ASX:USL) has reported its most impressive silver intercept to date from Phase 3 drilling at the Cerro León project in Argentina, marking a significant milestone in the company’s path toward development.
Exceptional Intercepts Across Multiple Prospects
The latest drill campaign encompassed 47 holes over 4,203 metres, including 10 diamond drill holes totalling 1,438 metres and 37 reverse circulation holes covering 2,765 metres. The focus was two-fold: enhancing confidence in shallow oxide mineralisation through infill drilling, and expanding mineralisation limits via deeper extension work.
At the Marta Norte oxide target, the campaign delivered an exceptional result—36 metres grading 474 grams per tonne silver equivalent (AgEq), including a standout segment of 13 metres at 1,096g/t AgEq. This includes 0.8g/t gold and a high-grade silver assay of 1,024g/t, representing the company’s highest silver intercept on record.
Strong Results at Karina, Tranquilo and Savary
The Karina prospect also yielded notable returns. Oxide drilling revealed 39 metres at 255g/t AgEq, with a high-grade core of 7 metres at 1,011g/t AgEq. Meanwhile, sulphide intercepts from Karina included 26 metres at 321g/t AgEq, featuring 3 metres at a remarkable 2,002g/t AgEq.
Additional strong sulphide zones were encountered at Tranquilo and Savary. Tranquilo’s best intercept was 12 metres at 449g/t AgEq, and Savary delivered 11 metres at 372g/t AgEq, with gold grades of up to 1.8g/t.
Strategic Growth Path Confirmed
These results play a critical role in Unico Silver’s ongoing transition from exploration to development. The shallow, high-grade oxide zones reinforce the company's target of surpassing a 150-million-ounce AgEq resource, while deeper sulphide zones strengthen its long-term growth blueprint known as the “Beyond 300” strategy.
Cerro León’s Strategic Location
Situated approximately 130 kilometres northwest of San Julián, Cerro León lies on the same mineral trend as the historically significant Cerro Vanguardia. The region boasts a cumulative vein strike length of 115 kilometres, hosting the second-largest vein field in the province.
The latest drilling success underscores the growing potential of Cerro León, as Unico Silver (USL) continues to define and expand one of Argentina’s most promising silver-gold assets.
