  • Drilling begins at Walkers Hill's gold anomaly
  • New targets identified through geological review
  • Broader exploration underway across NSW and SA

Talisman Mining (ASX:TLM) has initiated a focused drilling campaign at its Walkers Hill project in central New South Wales, aiming to explore gold potential in one of the region’s most prominent geochemical anomalies. While not part of the ASX 200 stocks, the company continues to show active engagement across multiple tenements in NSW and South Australia.

At Walkers Hill, the drilling targets a sizeable gold-in-soil geochemical trend and a significant anomaly at the newly defined Sheepyard prospect. The project area, located northwest of Condobolin, spans approximately 10km by 2.5km, making it one of the largest soil anomalies in the district. Historical drilling in the region had earlier shown wide zones of near-surface mineralisation, prompting the current round of reverse circulation drilling.

The exploration strategy builds on several phases of work dating back to 2000. Talisman’s team conducted an extensive review of geological, geophysical, and geochemical datasets over the Canbelego Mineral Hill Volcanic Belt. This effort led to the identification of promising target zones that combine anomalous soil chemistry, historic drilling data, and strong geophysical signals—features that point toward the presence of an extensive mineralised system in the area.

In addition to Walkers Hill, the company is also advancing its efforts at the Yarindury project, northeast of Dubbo. A recent geophysical survey in this region focused on magnetic anomalies in areas with shallower basement depths than those previously drilled. Results from this survey are pending and could shape upcoming drilling strategies.

Talisman’s broader NSW strategy includes a tenement-wide review that has highlighted multiple zones of interest. This led to drilling at Sheepyard and further survey work at Yarindury. The company also executed a diamond drilling program at the Mabel Creek project in South Australia, targeting magnetic and gravity features, and a geochemical auger survey at East Peak Hill in NSW to help identify future gold targets.

With ongoing work across several sites and a sustained exploration focus, Talisman Mining continues to systematically unlock the mineral potential of its portfolio, contributing to exploration developments across regional Australia.
