Lodestar Minerals (ASX:LSR) has announced that its drilling team is preparing to initiate testing on two significant magnetic targets at the Ned’s Creek project in Western Australia. The drilling will be conducted using a Reverse Circulation (RC) rig.
The initial phase of the drilling program will involve retrieving 500 meters of core equivalent, aimed at assessing the potential for gold mineralization in two specific drill holes. The company has highlighted geological similarities between Ned’s Creek and the well-known Wallaby deposit located in Laverton, WA, underscoring the prospectivity of the area.
Ned’s Creek is positioned at the northern end of the Yilgarn Craton, a significant geological feature that underpins much of Western Australia. According to Lodestar, the project area includes a kilometer-scale gold system along the Contessa graphite, where previous exploration has yielded promising results.
In a recent statement, Lodestar described the Ned’s Creek Project as highly prospective for an intrusion-related style of gold mineralization, with the potential to host multiple significant gold lodes. The company emphasized that the current drilling program is designed to test magnetic targets within this corridor, which have not yet been effectively drill tested.
Lodestar’s Managing Director, Ed Turner, expressed optimism about the upcoming drilling, noting that while exploration at Ned’s Creek has been limited in recent years, previous drilling by the company has intersected high-grade gold intervals, including a notable 11 meters at 29 g/t within the Contessa corridor.
Following the completion of this initial drilling phase and pending assay results, Lodestar plans to continue its exploration activities in and around the Ned’s Creek area, with the potential for further drilling based on the outcomes of the current program.
