  • Kuniko leads a multi-partner R&D project in Norway
  • Focused on battery-grade nickel, cobalt, and copper
  • Targets scalable low-emission extraction techniques

Kuniko (ASX:KNI), a company dedicated to critical mineral exploration, is moving forward with development efforts at its Ringerike and Skuterud projects in Norway. The company has submitted an application to the Norwegian Green Platform Initiative for support in advancing its Mine to Mobility (Min2Mob) project, a strategic research and development collaboration focused on sustainable battery metals supply for Europe’s e-mobility sector.

Though not part of the ASX 200, Kuniko’s push into the European battery metals supply chain illustrates the global reach and ambition of smaller-cap Australian explorers.

The Green Platform Initiative, overseen by Norway’s national innovation bodies, supports large-scale industrial innovation aligned with the transition to green energy. If approved, the funding would significantly contribute to Min2Mob’s goal of establishing a full-cycle framework for producing low-emission, battery-grade nickel, cobalt, and copper from Norwegian sources.

Min2Mob unites multiple industry participants in an integrated strategy that spans upstream resource development, advanced processing techniques, and downstream validation, all within Europe’s regulatory and environmental landscape. The project proposes to use renewable energy and advanced technology to reduce the environmental impact of critical mineral extraction and refinement.

The collaborative nature of the initiative places Kuniko at the center of an ecosystem designed to ensure long-term sustainability in critical minerals production. With growing European demand for secure, local supply chains of essential raw materials, projects like Min2Mob offer potential solutions tailored to regional policy and market needs.

By leveraging Norway’s clean energy infrastructure and established environmental standards, the project aims to demonstrate a scalable and repeatable model for low-carbon metal production. This aligns with both Norwegian and European Union strategies to reduce dependency on imports and support climate objectives.

Kuniko continues to progress its mission of contributing to the energy transition through exploration of nickel, copper, and cobalt across its portfolio. The company’s operations and initiatives underscore the increasing role of resource-backed innovation in the shift to electrification and cleaner technologies.
