- Anson Resources reveals first mineral resource for Green River Lithium Project
- Total lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) resource stands at 103,000 tonnes
- Additional drilling planned to assess further resource potential
Anson Resources (ASX:ASN) has taken a notable step in its lithium exploration journey by announcing its maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate for the Green River Lithium Project, located in Utah, USA. This milestone marks the company’s transition from exploration to defining a tangible resource base in a key global lithium hotspot.
Green River Project Delivers Strong Inaugural Resource
The estimate identifies 4,000 metric tonnes of elemental lithium in the indicated category, equivalent to 19,000 metric tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE). Furthermore, 16,000 metric tonnes of elemental lithium fall under the inferred category, translating to an additional 84,000 metric tonnes of LCE. This brings the total mineral resource at Green River to an impressive 103,000 metric tonnes of LCE.
The resource is based on brine deposits hosted within the Mississippian Leadville Limestone formation, a geological structure considered promising due to its porosity and historical fluid movements.
Exploration Target Underscores Growth Potential
Beyond the current resource, Anson Resources has pinpointed a substantial exploration target within the same aquifer system. The target zone is estimated to contain between 1,200 to 1,500 million tonnes of brine, with lithium concentrations ranging from 100 to 150 ppm. If successfully validated, this could potentially elevate the project into the ranks of larger lithium operations.
Such developments come at a time when ASX200 investors are paying increasing attention to lithium players due to rising demand across energy storage and electric vehicle sectors.
Planned Drilling and Flow Testing Ahead
To further refine geological and hydrological understanding, the company is preparing to re-enter the historic Mt Fuel-Skyline Geyser well. The goal is to undertake detailed drilling and flow testing to evaluate the aquifer’s behavior and improve estimates related to brine volume and lithium recoverability.
These steps are crucial for de-risking the project and unlocking long-term value through scale and operational clarity. Given the global shift toward electrification, the developments at Green River may resonate strongly with market participants following lithium dynamics closely.
Position in the Broader ASX Landscape
With the Green River resource now on the books, Anson Resources joins a growing group of emerging lithium players capturing attention across the ASX dividend stocks landscape. Though not a traditional income generator, developments in projects like Green River can influence long-term capital appreciation, a core pillar of diversified portfolios.
As lithium remains a strategic commodity within the clean energy revolution, Anson’s advancements could play a role in shaping future supply chains and investor interest on the ASX200.
