Hillgrove Resources Ltd (ASX:HGO) has achieved a significant milestone at its Kanmantoo copper mine in South Australia, recording the highest monthly copper production since transitioning to underground operations a year ago. In February 2025, the company produced 1,105 tonnes of copper, despite the shorter 28-day month.
The impressive result came from processing 116,000 tonnes of ore at an average copper grade of 1.01%, with a robust 94.2% recovery rate. This marked a notable increase from January’s figures, where 99,000 tonnes of ore produced 903 tonnes of copper.
Operational Improvements Drive Success
Alongside record production, the company also achieved a development milestone, completing 584 metres of underground development — the highest daily average recorded for a month. Managing director Bob Fulker attributed the success to ongoing operational improvements and strategic debottlenecking efforts.
“I am pleased to report continued improvement in our mine physicals which has seen a record achieved for copper production in February, despite February being a 28-day month,” Fulker said.
“In addition, there were record daily averages for both development and ore mining. The excellent operational delivery in these key metrics shows our continual improvement and debottlenecking of the mine that is delivering tangible results.”
Market Response and Future Outlook
Hillgrove’s shares were trading at 3.7 cents following the announcement, as investors responded positively to the company’s operational momentum. The record-breaking month reinforces Hillgrove’s position as a growing copper producer, with continued focus on optimizing output and expanding development at Kanmantoo — located just 55 kilometres from Adelaide.
