- Firefly Metals detects over 300 new copper-gold targets at Green Bay
- Exploration efforts expand with modern geophysics and multiple rig deployments
- Tilt Cove project exploration adds another dimension to the company’s strategy
Firefly Metals (ASX:FFM) has uncovered over 300 new exploration targets at its Green Bay copper-gold project in Canada, following the region’s first campaign involving modern geophysics. This marks a significant step in the company’s broader strategy to unlock mineral potential in a historically productive area. While the company is not currently listed among the ASX 200 stocks, its aggressive exploration campaign places it among the more active developers in the sector.
The identification of these targets came from airborne electrical and magnetic surveys combined with targeted ground-based electromagnetic work. These methods revealed distinct conductive zones associated with copper-gold bearing sulphide systems. According to geological assessments, the newly identified anomalies mirror known deposits at historic mines within the project, including the Ming and Rambler zones.
Among the standout discoveries is the “Hillbog” anomaly, situated near the Rambler Main site, which had not been previously identified. Additionally, the company mapped a large cluster of anomalies approximately 8km southwest of the Ming mine, located in highly prospective volcanic rock formations.
The company has outlined a structured plan to test these zones with a focused surface drilling program. This includes a growing fleet of diamond drilling rigs, some of which are already operating at the Ming Mine for both exploration and resource definition. The expanded rig deployment is expected to support consistent and wide-ranging exploration as the company pushes ahead with its development timeline.
Firefly Metals has also initiated early-stage exploration at its newly acquired Tilt Cove project, where previous operations yielded considerable quantities of copper and gold from a Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide system. This move aligns with the company’s goal of broadening its regional footprint and diversifying its asset base in Newfoundland.
Well-capitalised from a recent funding round, Firefly Metals is advancing multiple workstreams simultaneously. The combination of geophysical interpretation, ground validation, and drilling forms a multi-layered approach to resource development that could reshape the asset profile of the company over the coming years.
With its integrated strategy and expanding exploration pipeline, Firefly Metals continues to progress its copper-gold ambitions at a rapid pace, building on both historic knowledge and new data-driven discoveries.
