Highlights
- Expanded RC drilling boosts silver zone definition
- 2,882m drilled across 21 holes at Tarcoola's Tolmer target
- High-grade silver assays to be reported by late July
Barton Gold (ASX:BGD) (OTCQB:BGDFF) has successfully completed an expanded reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign targeting the high-grade silver zone at its Tolmer discovery, situated within the Tarcoola gold project in South Australia. The initiative follows promising geological and drilling observations that encouraged the company to extend its efforts beyond the initial program design.
Expanded Drilling Strategy
The company initially planned for 13 holes covering 2,500 metres focused on the western silver zone and the eastern gold zone. However, on-the-ground insights and early drill data prompted a pivot—seven holes originally earmarked for the eastern area were redirected to eight new holes in the silver-rich western area. This increased the overall campaign to 21 holes spanning 2,882 metres, maintaining the same project timeline while capturing broader geological data.
Drilling was strategically extended with two additional lines to both the north and south, significantly enhancing the exploration footprint. Barton Gold’s adaptive approach allowed a more comprehensive assessment of the mineralisation potential at Tolmer, particularly in areas with early indications of high-grade silver.
Anticipated Results and Next Steps
Sample assays from the latest campaign are currently being processed, with results expected by the end of July. The outcomes will be instrumental in guiding the company’s near-term exploration strategy, which includes potential follow-up RC drilling and diamond drilling for structural insights.
The company had earlier confirmed a new high-grade silver zone located approximately 500 metres west of the initial gold discovery. This area returned exceptional silver assays such as:
- 6 metres at 4,747 grams per tonne (g/t) silver from 46m, including 1m at 17,600g/t
- 4 metres at 1,417g/t silver from 9m, including 1m at 3,790g/t
- 14 metres at 434g/t silver from 46m, including 1m at 3,350g/t
These results underscore the significant potential of the Tolmer silver zone to deliver globally competitive grades and support long-term project development.
Forward Outlook
Exploration teams are already preparing for the next phase of work, with an emphasis on understanding structural controls and extending known mineralisation zones. This forward momentum demonstrates a focused and data-driven approach to unlocking value from the Tarcoola region.
Barton Gold’s evolving exploration narrative at Tolmer continues to attract attention as it systematically advances high-grade silver potential alongside its established gold prospects.
