  • Multi-resource growth strategy strengthens portfolio

Askari Metals (ASX:AS2) has uncovered significant copper mineralisation at its Nejo Gold Project in Ethiopia, marking a pivotal advancement in its exploration efforts. While the company is not currently part of the ASX 200 stocks, this recent development underscores its potential as a rising exploration entity amid a competitive resource sector.

The newly surfaced data highlights the Katta Target within the Nejo project as a key copper-rich zone. Historical drilling efforts at this location revealed notable copper intersections, showcasing the project's dual potential in both gold and copper exploration. These encouraging outcomes are supported by the discovery of multiple copper-bearing gossans at nearby zones, including Katta 2, where a major strike remains open and untested at depth and along strike.

Askari’s approach has been systematic, starting with the consolidation and digital analysis of historical datasets. This effort has helped validate the strategic value of the Nejo asset and laid the groundwork for a modern, targeted exploration campaign. The company is now planning a robust follow-up program featuring advanced geophysical surveys, trenching, soil sampling, and strategic drilling to unlock the full value of the copper and gold targets.

Located within the Arabian-Nubian Shield, the Nejo Gold Project spans a substantial landholding and is considered an advanced-stage brownfields site. Despite its promising potential, the area remains underexplored. Askari aims to change that narrative by applying modern methodologies to expand and define resource potential across multiple targets.

A future goal for the company is the delineation of a maiden JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate for the project. This is expected to be achieved through a step-by-step exploration strategy aimed at identifying and prioritising high-value zones within the licence area.

In parallel with its Nejo efforts, Askari Metals continues to advance its diversified portfolio with exploration activities at its Uis Lithium Project in Namibia and the Matemanga Uranium Project in Tanzania. These additions reflect a broader ambition to position itself as a key explorer of high-demand minerals across resource-rich regions in Southern Africa.

With systematic exploration underway and early results showing considerable promise, Askari’s Nejo Gold Project may soon evolve into a notable source of copper and gold discovery within the African mineral landscape.
