Highlights

  • Yambat drilling reveals new Cu‑Ni‑PGE mineralisation zones
  • Geophysical survey to refine next drilling targets underway
  • Metallurgical testing and follow‑up drilling planned next

Asian Battery Metals (ASX:AZ9) has moved ahead with exploration work at its Yambat Project in Mongolia, confirming new copper‑nickel‑platinum group elements (Cu‑Ni‑PGE) mineralisation. This progress follows the completion of the latest phase of drilling, further reinforcing the potential scale of mineralisation in the region. While the company is not part of the ASX 100 companies, the expansion at Yambat demonstrates the type of exploration momentum that can influence the broader mining landscape.

Phase 3 Delivers Key Geological Insights

Advancing the Oval Discovery

The third phase of drilling covered several targets, including the Oval copper‑nickel‑PGE prospect and surrounding regional zones such as MS1, MS2, and Copper Ridge. This work identified extensions of massive sulphide zones and revealed additional mineralised intervals along the strike of the Oval gabbroic intrusion.
Notably, certain drillholes intersected fresh sulphide mineralisation, outlining a semi‑continuous mineralised corridor that connects northern and central parts of the Oval area. These results build a stronger geological picture and add new dimensions to exploration targeting.

Regional Targets Show Encouraging Signs

Beyond Oval, investigations at MS1 confirmed the fertility of the mineral system. Mafic rocks in this area exhibited trace platinum group elements and sulphide mineralisation, while early‑stage geophysics refined drilling priorities.
A SAMSON ground electromagnetic (EM) survey has also commenced across both the Oval and regional prospects, designed to sharpen the focus for the next drilling programs.

Other Projects and Near-Term Plans

Elsewhere, activities at the Khukh Tag Graphite and Tsagaan Ders Lithium projects have been limited to essential exploration commitments. The company remains engaged in identifying additional projects that could complement its core Yambat operations.
Looking ahead, upcoming work includes completing the EM survey, initiating metallurgical test work on drill core, and beginning follow‑up drilling targeting new EM conductors. Regional exploration assessments will also continue to broaden the project pipeline.
