Telix Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:TLX), based in Melbourne, is set to significantly expand its presence in North America through the acquisition of RLS Inc., the only US radiopharmacy network accredited by the Joint Commission. This strategic move will strengthen Telix’s manufacturing and distribution capabilities across the continent, positioning it to enhance its future radiometal production network.
The acquisition agreement will see Telix take control of RLS Inc. from RLS Group Ltd. This will provide Telix access to a wide network of 31 licensed radiopharmacies located in major US cities, laying the groundwork for a robust production and distribution system. The radiopharmacies will serve to facilitate the development and last-mile delivery of key therapeutic and diagnostic isotopes in key markets.
This move also sets the stage for the extensive deployment of Telix’s proprietary ARTMS QUANTM Irradiation System™ (QIS™) cyclotron technology. This technology plays a crucial role in scaling up the production of essential isotopes used in both PET and SPECT diagnostic tracers, as well as therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
Telix's managing director and group CEO, Dr. Christian Behrenbruch, highlighted that the acquisition is aligned with the company's commitment to vertical integration and establishing a comprehensive, future-ready supply chain. By leveraging the ARTMS platform alongside RLS’s established network, Telix aims to secure a consistent supply of diagnostic tracers and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring stable delivery across the US.
This strategic investment is expected to enhance Telix's technical expertise and operational efficiency, helping to meet growing demand for its products. Additionally, the acquisition strengthens the company’s partnerships within the radiopharmacy sector, ensuring high-quality service and delivery reliability for all stakeholders involved.
With this acquisition, Telix reinforces its position as a leader in radiopharmaceuticals, bolstering its capacity to serve patients and support its partners in the evolving healthcare landscape.
