Lumos Diagnostics Holdings Ltd (ASX:LDX) has announced a significant milestone for its point-of-care respiratory test, FebriDx, following the awarding of a national contract with MediGroup. This development will enable the FebriDx test to reach a broader audience in the United States, enhancing access to its rapid diagnostic capabilities.
The FebriDx test stands out by delivering results in just 10 minutes using a simple fingerstick blood sample. This rapid turnaround is crucial for medical professionals, especially in emergency and urgent care settings, where quick decisions are essential for patient management. The recent clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July 2023 solidified FebriDx’s status as an approved diagnostic tool for bacterial acute respiratory infections, differentiating between bacterial and non-bacterial causes.
The collaboration with MediGroup, which encompasses over 30,000 members including surgical clinics, non-acute care facilities, and physician offices, positions Lumos well within the healthcare landscape. Doug Ward, CEO and Managing Director of Lumos, expressed optimism regarding this partnership, highlighting its importance in expanding distribution coverage for FebriDx.
Following this announcement, Lumos shares experienced a notable rise, trading at 3.7 cents, reflecting a 10.29% increase since the market opened.
