Cyclopharm Limited (ASX:CYC) has announced an Interim Agreement (IA) to supply the U.S. Veterans Health Administration (VA) with pharmaceutical and consumable components of Technegas. This deal marks an important milestone for Cyclopharm as it paves the way for broader access to Technegas within the U.S. federal healthcare system. The VA, the largest integrated government healthcare system in the United States, operates 120 hospitals with nuclear medicine departments. These facilities will now have immediate access to Technegas products under the agreed contract terms.
This Interim Agreement is a crucial first step toward securing a spot on the U.S. Federal Supply Schedule (FSS), which provides a streamlined procurement process for federal agencies, including the Department of Defense (DoD) and Public Health Service (PHS) hospitals. Once listed on the FSS, Technegas will be available across the entire U.S. government healthcare network. This marks a significant step forward for Cyclopharm’s U.S. expansion strategy, as Technegas has already received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Alongside this agreement, Cyclopharm is progressing with the registration process for the Technegas System, the medical device component that administers the pharmaceutical product. This inclusion in the streamlined FSS procurement service will further simplify access to both the pharmaceutical and device components of Technegas for U.S. federal healthcare facilities.
Technegas, a diagnostic imaging agent used in lung ventilation scans, is highly regarded for its ability to provide accurate functional ventilation images. This capability makes it a critical tool in diagnosing and managing conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pulmonary fibrosis. These conditions are particularly prevalent among veterans who have suffered toxic exposures during active military service. The Veterans Health Administration’s inclusion of Technegas in its system is expected to enhance the treatment and management of lung diseases in veterans, especially in the wake of the recently introduced PACT Act, which seeks to improve care for veterans affected by toxic exposures.
In addition to the agreement with the VA, Cyclopharm has also received its first purchase order for Technegas from a Department of Defense (DoD) hospital. While DoD hospitals will eventually be covered under the upcoming FSS agreement, this initial purchase demonstrates the growing interest in Technegas across various branches of the U.S. federal healthcare system. Cyclopharm has been actively working to implement Technegas at individual sites within the VA, DoD, and PHS networks.
The initial installations of Technegas at VA, DoD, and PHS facilities are expected to commence in the first half of 2025, marking another significant milestone in Cyclopharm's U.S. expansion strategy. These installations represent not only a key revenue driver for the company but also a vital step in making Technegas widely available to U.S. federal healthcare providers. By securing these agreements and advancing the installation process, Cyclopharm is well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to the treatment and management of lung diseases in veterans and active-duty service members.
