  • Algorae Pharmaceuticals identifies 24 new drug targets using AI.
  • Preclinical studies to assess targets for oncology treatments.
  • Expansion of AI-powered drug platform to Version 2.0 announced.

Algorae Pharmaceuticals (ASX:1AI) has unveiled a significant milestone with the identification of 24 new drug targets through its Algorae Operating System (AlgoraeOS) Version 1.0. Launched in collaboration with artificial intelligence (AI) experts from the University of New South Wales in October, the platform leverages advanced machine-learning models to streamline drug discovery processes.

The drug targets have undergone rigorous evaluation for commercial and intellectual property potential. Algorae Pharmaceuticals plans to initiate preclinical studies at an Australian pharmaceutical laboratory to verify their efficacy and safety. These studies aim to mitigate risks in future development phases, whether carried out internally or through partnerships.

Focus on Oncology and Unmet Medical Needs

The 24 identified targets focus on critical medical areas, including breast cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, and glioblastoma. These indications represent significant unmet needs in oncology, positioning Algorae Pharmaceuticals as a key player in advancing cancer treatment options.

The company noted that in vitro preclinical testing would ensure these targets meet safety and efficacy benchmarks. Promising candidates may be further developed internally or licensed to pharmaceutical partners for broader commercialization.

Harnessing AI for Competitive Advantage

The AlgoraeOS platform employs sophisticated algorithms to analyze data from over 5,000 known drugs across 150 human cell types. This technology facilitates the prediction of fixed-dose combination drugs, merging multiple active pharmaceutical ingredients into a single dosage form. Hosted on the Gadi supercomputer by National Computational Infrastructure Australia, the platform demonstrates the integration of AI in solving complex challenges in drug discovery.

Algorae Pharmaceuticals emphasized that AI capabilities significantly enhance its ability to predict therapeutic targets ahead of competitors relying on traditional methods.

Development of Version 2.0

In a move to further expand its capabilities, Algorae Pharmaceuticals has initiated the development of AlgoraeOS Version 2.0. The upgrade aims to enhance the predictive accuracy of the platform, broaden pharmaceutical databases, and extend its applicability across additional fields of medicine.

The company stated that the updated version would solidify its position as a leader in AI-driven drug discovery. Notably, AlgoraeOS remains the only platform of its kind in Australia, reflecting its pioneering role in the pharmaceutical AI sector.

This advancement underscores Algorae Pharmaceuticals' commitment to revolutionizing drug development processes and addressing critical gaps in therapeutic solutions.
