Helix Resources launches initial drill program at Arizona-based White Hills copper-gold project
Exploration to assess mineralisation across White Hills and Gold Basin Joint Venture
Geophysical and geochemical studies support copper-bearing potential in key zones
Mineral explorer Helix Resources (ASX:HLX), listed on the All Ordinaries, has commenced exploration activities aimed at unlocking copper and gold mineralisation in Arizona, United States. The White Hills Project is positioned across notable mineral belts and forms part of the broader Gold Basin Joint Venture.
Initial results from geophysical, geological, and geochemical studies indicate promising conditions for porphyry-style copper-gold systems. These include inverted airborne magnetic readings and granitic formations beneath the target area.
Focused Drilling Strategy to Confirm Historical Mineralisation
Helix Resources will conduct a diamond core drilling program to test known zones of mineralisation. This campaign will focus on validating historical results related to gold and investigating the presence of associated copper. The program is expected to refine understanding of subsurface characteristics in preparation for additional fieldwork.
The drilling will also assess structural features around the Senator Mine, where earlier sampling highlighted a potassic radiometric anomaly and possible detachment-related mineralisation. Depending on early results, follow-up activities may include passive seismic and induced polarisation surveys.
Integrated Exploration Approach Across Consolidated Project Area
Helix plans to expand its assessment across the Gold Basin Joint Venture zone. The consolidated land package allows broader exploration for base and precious metals, particularly as airborne and ground-based studies point to structural and lithological features conducive to mineral deposits.
Geochemical mapping and soil sampling will also be used to analyse areas northwest of historical workings and structural intersections. These studies are intended to trace mineralised pathways and identify possible extensions to known systems.
White Hills Seen as a Strategic Addition to Broader Portfolio
The White Hills and Gold Basin areas were historically explored primarily for gold. However, project-wide sampling data suggests broader copper mineralisation may be present. This aligns with the company’s exploration strategy and geographic diversification, extending its footprint beyond existing tenements in New South Wales.
Helix Resources views the Arizona project as an aligned development amid a backdrop of domestic resource priorities in the United States. The company continues to assess future drill locations and surface surveys to build a clearer model of mineralisation across the region.
