Fast bowler Michael Neser has offered a timely reminder of his other qualities, starring with the bat as Glamorgan mounted an impressive fightback against Leicestershire in the County Championship.

Neser was overlooked for Australia's 17-player squad for the World Test Championship and the first two matches of the Ashes series, with selectors naming four quicks but indicating a replacement could be called up from the plethora of Aussies playing in England over the northern summer.

Having taken 2-98, including fellow Australian Peter Handscomb for 95, as Leicestershire reached 407 in their first innings, Neser shared an eighth-wicket stand of 211 with Chris Cooke to take his previously shaky side to 8-446 by close on day three.

Cooke remained unbeaten on 121 at stumps, with Neser departing for 90. Marnus Labuschagne had earlier contributed 64.

Queenslander Neser reached his half-century from 94 deliveries when he pulled Chris Wright for his seventh four.

He notched 11 boundaries before falling to a superb delivery from Wright that uprooted middle stump.

Nathan McAndrew took 5-53, including Gloucestershire's key batters James Bracey and Graeme van Buuren in successive balls, as his Sussex side reduced their hosts to 9-198 in reply to the visitors' first-innings total of 5d-455.

Gloucestershire's collapse began with a direct-hit run out of Australia's Ashes squad member Marcus Harris (37), whose despairing dive failed to beat an arrow from substitute fielder Tom Clark.

Harris' dismissal began a chaotic 10-minute spell for Gloucestershire, who dropped from 1-99 to 4-105 by tea.

McAndrew struck three more times during the session - Oliver Price and Zafar Gohar both edging behind to wicketkeeper Carter before the Australian had Marchant de Lange bowled pressing forward in defence to complete his five-wicket haul.

South Australia's Daniel Worrall and West Indies star Kemar Roach combined to rip through Warwickshire's second innings and earn a nine-wicket win for Surrey at Edgbaston.

Worrall finished with figures of 3-55, after Roach took 3-9 in a fantastic spell to leave Warwickshire wobbling at 4-22 at lunch.

The hosts were all out for 141, leaving Surrey to knock off the required 11 runs in two overs.
