India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.94%

Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Metals and Oil&Gas sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.94%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.92%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which rose 5.12% or 171.70 points to trade at 3,522.40 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) added 2.67% or 82.60 points to end at 3,172.00 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) was up 2.62% or 89.85 points to 3,517.85 in late trade.

Biggest losers included State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which lost 0.71% or 4.10 points to trade at 574.05 in late trade. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) declined 0.52% or 13.00 points to end at 2,496.25 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) shed 0.26% or 3.15 points to 1,203.20.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen&Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which rose 2.16% to 2,971.00, Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was up 2.07% to settle at 1,009.30 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 1.88% to close at 7,560.05.

The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 0.65% to 574.40 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 0.42% to settle at 2,498.00 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 0.32% to 3,262.00 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1405 to 696 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2343 rose and 1308 declined, while 170 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.04% to 11.10.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 4.35 to $1,994.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.96% or 1.58 to hit $82.09 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.80% or 1.53 to trade at $86.42 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.06% to 83.21, while EUR/INR rose 0.31% to 89.47.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 104.72.
