Key pointers from ASX closing today
- Domain Holdings Australia Ltd (ASX:DHG) and Champion Iron Ltd (ASX:CIA) gained the most on the ASX today, moving ahead 5.47% and 4.9%, respectively.
- Silver Lake Resources Limited (ASX:SLR) and Core Lithium Ltd (ASX:CXO) fell 3.80% and 2.91%, respectively.
- Over the last five days, the index has lost 0.73% and 2.88% over the last 52 weeks.
- Utilities was the biggest gainer, climbed 1.59% followed by IT which was 1.35% up while materials fell 0.27%.
- The All-Ordinaries Index gained 0.53%.
Newsmakers
Avecho Biotechnology (ASX:AVE): The phase three clinical trial of Avecho Biotechnology's CBD softgel capsule for the treatment of insomnia has received ethics approval, as per an ASX filing.
The experiment will be conducted by the firm as a multicenter study at up to ten locations across Australia, with Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne serving as the main location.
Trek Metals (ASX:TKM): To further increase its portfolio of Australian battery metals, Trek Metals has signed an option agreement with private business Gempart over the Princess project in the Northern Territory.
Trek has been given an exclusive 90-day due diligence time under the agreement to carry out field exploration tasks to assess the lithium potential of the project's pegmatites.
Global markets
The S&P 500 gained 1.49% to 3,878.44. The Dow Jones was 1.60% up to 33,376.48. The NASDAQ Composite increased 1.54% to 10,709.37, and the small-cap Russell 2000 climbed 1.65% to 1,776.94.
In Asia, the Asia Dow was 1.15% up, Nikkei in Japan climbed 0.50% while Shanghai Composite in China increased by 0.30%, Hang Seng in Hong Kong gained 2.67% at 4.04 PM AEDT.
Bond yields
Australia’s 10-year bond yield stands at 3.81% as of 4.05 PM AEDT.
In commodities markets
Crude Oil WTI was spotted trading at US$78.57/bbl, while brent was at US$82.67/bbl at 4.06 PM AEDT.
Gold was at US$1819.74 an ounce, copper was at US$3.85/Lbs, and iron ore was at US$113.00/T at 4.06 PM AEDT.
