  • The S&P/ASX 200 closed significantly up on Wednesday (05 October 2022), gaining 1.74% to 6,815.70 points.
  • Ten out of eleven major sectors ended in green today.
  • Information Technology ended 3.85% higher while the Consumer Discretionary sector closed with a gain of 2.72%.

  • The ASX 200 benchmark index closed strong on Wednesday at 6,815.70 points.
  • Telix Pharmaceuticals Limited (ASX:TLX) and HUB24 Limited (ASX:HUB) closed 11.646% and 9.710% higher respectively, posting maximum gains.
  • In last five trading sessions, ASX 200 has gained 5.47% but is down 8.45% for the last year-to-date.
  • Meanwhile, the Information Technology sector ended 3.85% strong, followed by the Consumer Discretionary and Financial sectors closing 2.72% and 2.33% higher respectively.
  • Telecommunications ended 1.66% up and Industrials ended 1.59% higher. Materials closed 1.42% up while, the Health Care ended 1.55% higher.

 

News Makers

  • Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG) – Fortescue has collaborated with Tree Energy Solutions to expand its green energy hub in Europe. The investment of AU$199.2 million will be funded by FFI (an FMG subsidiary). As per the deal, FFI will acquire 30% of TES, and the project will take place in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. FMG shares closed 2.382% higher today.
  • Link Administration Holdings Limited (ASX:LNK) – Link Group has so far received three confidential proposals from Dye & Durham to acquire parts of Link’s business. According to announcement, Link has rejected the first two proposals and is considering the third proposal worth AU$1.27 billion. The shares ended 6.7% higher at AU$3.110 apiece today.

In global markets:

Wall Street closed strong on Tuesday (4 October 2022). The benchmark S&P 500 gained 3.06%; the Nasdaq Composite ended 3.34% higher and the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 2.8% up. 

In Commodities markets:

Crude Oil WTI was spotted at US$86.36/bbl at 4:51 PM AEDT. Gold was at US$1,729.00 an ounce at 4:51 PM AEDT today (05 October 2022).
