Key pointers from ASX closing today
- Coronado Global Resources Inc (ASX:CRN) and Whitehaven Coal Ltd (ASX:WHC) gained the most on the ASX today, moving ahead 08% and 0.27%, respectively.
- Novonix Ltd (ASX:NVX) and Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:RMS) fell 7.52% and 7.35%, respectively.
- Over the last five days, the index has gained 0.52%, but is down 2.06% for the last year to date.
- Seven out of 11 sectors closed in red today.

Newsmakers
Thomson Resources (ASX:TMZ): Warwick Gold Holdings (WGH) will purchase the Texas project from Thomson Resources (TMZ) for AU$3.5 million.
The parties entered into a legally binding agreement for WGH to purchase the Queensland-based project and associated assets, which Thomson claimed it did not believe essential to its future business plan.
Eastern Resources (ASX:EFE): In drill samples from its first reverse circulation (RC) operation at the Trigg Hill project in Western Australia, Eastern Resources (EFE) has discovered spodumene.
The company reported that logging and XRD scans, among other techniques, were used in a recent mineralogical assessment of samples from a number of intercepts to establish the presence of "abundant" spodumene.
Global markets
The S&P 500 lost 1.79% to 3,998.84. The Dow Jones was 1.40% down to 33,947.10. The NASDAQ Composite decreased merely by 1.93% to 11,239.94, and the small-cap Russell 2000 fell 2.78% to 1,840.22.
In Asia, Nikkei in Japan gained 0.30%, the Asia Dow was 0.43% down while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong fell 0.88% and Shanghai Composite in China decreased by 0.14% at 4.24 PM AEDT.
Bond yields
Australia’s 10-year bond yield stands at 3.40% as of 4.25 PM AEDT.
In commodities markets
Crude Oil WTI was spotted trading at US$77.19/bbl, while brent was at US$82.94/bbl at 4.26 PM AEDT.
Gold was at US$1772.73 an ounce, copper was at US$3.79/Lbs, and iron ore was at US$109.50/T at 4.26 PM AEDT.
