Key pointers from ASX closing today
- Ramelius Resources Limited (ASX:RMS) and Pinnacle Investment Management Group Ltd (ASX:PNI) gained the most on the ASX today, moving ahead by 9.06% and 7.62%, respectively.
- HMC Capital Ltd (ASX:HMC) and Nextdc Ltd (ASX:NXT) fell 6.90% and 3.65%, respectively.
- Over the last five days, the index has gained 1.49%, but is down 1.27% for the last year to date.
- Nine out of 11 sectors closed in green today.

Alcidion (ASX:ALC): The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) and Alcidion (ALC) have agreed to a three-year contract for the implementation of Alcidion's Miya Precision IT platform, according to an ASX filing.
Using a combination of Miya modules and UHS legacy products, the business will produce a cutting-edge, modular electronic patient record under the terms of the AU$2.8 million deal.
XTEK (ASX:XTE): The Australian Department of Defence has placed a AU$26.9 million purchase order with defence technology provider XTEK (XTE) for new combat drones, the company said in an ASX filing.
The company stated that it planned to deliver the small unmanned aerial systems (SUAS) order and recognise the related revenue from the order before the conclusion of its 2023 fiscal year.
Global markets
US markets surged overnight as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell gave a hint that the institution was getting ready to depress interest rates.
The S&P 500 gained 3.09% to 4080.11. The Dow Jones was 2.18% up to 34,589.77. The NASDAQ Composite increased by 4.41% to 11,468.00, and the small-cap Russell 2000 fell by 2.72% to 1,886.58.
In Asia, Nikkei in Japan gained 1.13%, the Asia Dow was 1.88% up while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong climbed 1.48% and Shanghai Composite in China increased by 0.74% at 4.21 PM AEDT.

Australia’s 10-year bond yield stands at 3.49% as of 4.22 PM AEDT.
In commodities markets
Crude Oil WTI was spotted trading at US$80.28/bbl, while brent was at US$86.54/bbl at 4.22 PM AEDT.
Gold was at US$1779.78 an ounce, copper was at US$3.77/Lbs, and iron ore was at US$103.00/T at 4.23 PM AEDT.
