Matthew Guy has slammed "faceless leakers" working to undermine Victoria's Liberals from within, as the party's former leader broke his silence six months after losing a second election.
Mr Guy also took aim at the party's state president, the Victorian Electoral Commission and media coverage of the campaign during an hour-long discussion with broadcaster Neil Mitchell released on Tuesday.
He questioned whether certain Liberal figures actually wanted to win government and claimed former office holders were among those who leaked stories, singling out two prominent people who he declined to name.
"These faceless leakers of the Liberal Party, they run around trying to trade in information to make themselves relevant, to build a name for themselves, to build a brand for themselves," Mr Guy said.
He also doubled down on calls for state president Greg Mirabella to resign, blaming him for the defeat and describing his conduct as "woeful".
Mr Guy said media coverage of the election was "obscenely ordinary", calling the ABC "regular haters" of the Liberals while also firing a shot at Sky's late-night programming.
"Sky After Dark is more akin to the One Nation party than the Liberal Party. In fact, I think they're they're incredibly damaging to the Liberal Party," he said.
The member for Bulleen also accused the Victorian Electoral Commission of incompetency over drama on election night that saw some polling booths run out of ballots.
Mr Guy ruled out another leadership tilt and said he would stay in politics on the back bench as he pushed for stability and reform.
Premier Daniel Andrews seized on his former rival's comments, suggesting internal divisions within the Liberals fuelled their drubbing at the polls in November.
"The Liberal Party's politics, Mr Guy included, is all about them and him," Mr Andrews said.
"That's why they're sitting in such small numbers on the wrong side of the house. Seriously, they are obsessed with themselves."
Opposition Leader John Pesutto admitted the coalition had a number of lessons to learn from its 2022 state election loss and said Mr Guy was a source of advice.
"Matthew is a very good friend of mine and ours and has a really constructive role to play and he'll continue to do that," he told reporters.
