The Australian stock market began the new month trading with a gloomy session where the entire trading happened in the red zone. The benchmark index S&P/ASX200 declined by 1.77 per cent and settled at 5953.4. Yesterday, the stock market closed at 6060.5 points.
On Monday, in the US stock market, Tesla, Apple, Advanced Micro Devices and Zoom Video Communications stocks drove the Nasdaq Composite up by 0.68 per cent when the Dow Industrials and S&P 500 finished in the red zone, down by 0.78 per cent and 0.22 per cent respectively.
The commodity section today at AEST 3:20 PM - the Australian dollar surged by 0.24 per cent and was trading at AUD 0.7393, gold increased by 1.11 per cent and was trading at USD 1989.62. If we talk about crude oil, it grew by 1.17 per cent and was trading at USD 43.11 a barrel.
The stocks that performed better than others today are:
- Cooper Energy Limited (ASX:COE) was the top gainer today. It traded at AUD 0.35 and was up by 6.06 per cent.
- Resolute Mining Limited (ASX:RSG) remained the second top gainer. It traded at AUD 1.14 and was up by 3.17 per cent.
The stocks that performed the weakest today are:
- Afterpay Limited (ASX:APT)traded at AUD 84.09 and was down by 8.04 per cent.
- EML Payments Limited (ASX:EML)traded at AUD 3.19, down by 6.45 per cent.
