SPDR S&P/ASX 50 Fund (ASX:SFY) is an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) licensed for the use by State Street Global Advisors, Australia Securities Limited (SSGA, ASL), a financial service providing company. The Investment Objective of SFY is to closely match the performance of the S&P/ASX 50 Index before fees and other costs. The investment strategy of SFY is based on accurate tracking, lower costs, and low portfolio turnover. Its investment is highly concentrated in the banking sector.Â

SFY was established on 24 August 2001, and since then, the fund has been trying to generate a return close to the S&P/ASX 50 index. Since inception, the fund has generated a return of 7.08% as compared to the index return of 7.45% as of 31 December 2018. It has a management cost of 0.286%. In December 2018, it generated a positive return of 0.55% as compared to the index positive return of 0.59%.

SFY reported Funds Under Management (FUM) of A$512.40 million with a Return on Equity (ROE) of 16.98% and a dividend yield of 4.80% as on 25 January 2019 as compared to S&P/ASX 50 Index ROE of 16.99% and the same dividend yield of 4.80%.

Its 3-5 years EPS growth as on 25 January 2019 is expected to be 4.51%, higher than the index 3-5 years EPS expected growth of 4.50%. It reported same benchmark index Price/Earnings, Fiscal Year 1 Price/Earnings, and Price/Cash Flow multiples of 15.66x, 15.20x and, 9.82x respectively.

On 25 January 2019, the fund reported 9,457,064.00 units on offer at the close of the trading day with no change in the applications and redemption of units as compared to the previous day. It reported Net Asset Value (NAV) per Unit of A$54.18 with NAV per Creation Unit of A$1,354,531.95 as compared to the value of Index Basket Shares for 25 January 2019 of A$1,354,450.01. On 24 January 2019, the same was reported as A$53.82, A$1,345,543.36, and A$1,345,441.89 respectively.

The Cash Component per Creation Unit was reported as A$81.94 with NAV of SPDR S&P/ASX 50 Fund of A$512,395,814.71 on 25 January 2019 as compared to A$101.47 and A$508,995,586.64 respectively in the previous session.

As on 31 December 2018, SFY reported Net Asset Value (NAV) per Unit of A$51.93, NAV per Creation Unit of A$1,298,226.96, the value of Index Basket Shares of A$1,298,446.04, Cash Component per Creation Unit of -A$219.08, and NAV of SPDR S&P/ASX 50 Fund of A$485,377,564.58. The opening units on offer were reported as 9,346,932 units and closing units on offer were reported as 9,371,932 units with the applications received for 25,000 units.

On 31 December 2018, it distributed a dividend of A$0.53528 per unit with franking of 83.44%.

Fund performance: The ETF has generated a positive return of 4.77% over the past three months. It last traded at A$54.220 (as on 25 January 2019) with an up movement of 0.837% in the price during the day’s performance. The fund has 9.45 million shares outstanding with a market cap of circa A$507.96 million.
