Highlights
- At Surefire’s Yidby Gold Project, gold mineralisation now extends over 500m and remains open along strike and at depth.
- A major new exploration campaign has commenced across the 140km² tenement, including 5,000m of RC and 2,000m of diamond drilling to test new targets including the “Money Anomaly.”
- At the Copper Hill Prospect, maiden drilling has confirmed significant copper mineralisation, with peak assays reaching up to 2,010ppm Cu.
- Petrographic analysis and geochemical data suggest the potential presence of a submarine volcanic-hosted massive sulphide (VMS) system at Copper Hill.
- To advance exploration at Copper Hill, Surefire is preparing for a moving-loop time-domain electromagnetic (MLEM) survey to identify deeper conductive sulphide zones.
Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has been advancing exploration at its Yidby Gold Project, with recent drilling extending known mineralisation and a major new drilling campaign underway across the company’s 140km² tenure. In parallel, the company has identified copper sulphide mineralisation at the Copper Hill Prospect with the Yidby project area, highlighting the potential for a newly recognised volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) system.
Exploration Advances at Yidby Gold Project
Surefire Resources continues to advance its Yidby Gold Project, located in the prolific Yalgoo-Singleton Greenstone Belt (YSGB), a region known for hosting multi-million-ounce gold deposits.
The Yidby gold trend currently spans more than 3 kilometres and remains open both along strike and at depth. The company believes there is significant potential to define a larger gold system at depth. Metallurgical testing indicated the gold can be efficiently recovered using gravity and leaching methods.
In January 2025, Surefire reported a significant extension of gold mineralisation to over 500m. The results revealed a broad mineralisation zone, supporting the presence of a major gold system. Notably, mineralisation remains open in both directions along strike and at depth.
In April 2025, a major exploration campaign commenced at Yidby covering its entire 140km² tenement, aiming to assess all identified gold prospects within the area. The program includes 5,000m RC drilling and 2,000m diamond drilling, targeting both new anomalies and extensions of known mineralisation.
A key target is the “Money Anomaly,” a 1km x 500m gold zone identified through soil and stream sediment sampling. Moreover, the campaign will cover several newly defined targets within the Yidby system, identified through detailed multi-element geochemical mapping.
Copper Mineralisation at Copper Hill Prospect
Surefire Resources has identified encouraging copper sulphide mineralisation at its Copper Hill prospect, within tenement E59/2426. Originally explored for its magnetite potential within a Banded Iron Formation (BIF), the area also also showed signs of native copper and sulphides within a package of interpreted submarine volcanic rocks—supporting VMS-style mineralisation potential.
In December 2024, a maiden scout drilling program was carried out, and assay results from hole PBRC010 revealed a notable increase in copper concentrations, ranging from 1,695ppm to 2,010ppm Cu, with the highest values encountered at the end of the hole.
Following the drill campaign, Surefire commenced petrographic analysis of RC drill chip samples to better understand the mineralisation style and host rock characteristics.
To advance exploration, Surefire has proposed a moving-loop time-domain electromagnetic (MLEM) survey. This reconnaissance-style geophysical method is designed to detect subsurface electrically conductive mineralisation and related structures and could be instrumental in guiding future drilling to target deeper or more concentrated sulphide zones.
Surefire Resources has been actively advancing its strategy to unlock significant gold and copper potential across the expansive Yidby tenure. Ongoing drilling and geophysical programs have been expanding the known gold footprint at Yidby, while maiden results at Copper Hill have revealed promising copper sulphide mineralisation, with early indicators of a potential VMS system. With a large-scale exploration campaign underway and multiple high-priority targets identified, Surefire expects to deliver further discoveries as it continues to pursue both gold and base metal opportunities in this highly prospective region.
