Highlights
- Follow-up exploration has begun at the Phat Boy prospect, part of the Yidby East project.
- Recent soil grid sampling east of the Yidby gold project revealed highly anomalous copper and zinc assays.
- Four distinct zones of copper and zinc anomalism were identified along an inferred shear zone adjacent to a folded Banded Iron Formation (BIF).
- Detailed soil sampling, rock chip sampling, and mapping will be conducted over the next week to refine anomalies and establish drill targets.
- The company has applied for co-funding under the West Australian Government's Exploration Incentive Scheme to support drilling.
Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has begun follow-up exploration at the Phat Boy prospect within its 100%-owned Yidby East project in Western Australia. The prospect shows highly anomalous copper and zinc assays. Details here.
The anomalies were detected through broad spaced soil grid sampling east of the Yidby gold project. While previous exploration focused on gold, these copper-zinc anomalies suggest potential for other types of mineralisation.
Exploration has revealed four distinct zones of copper and zinc anomalies, each along the margin of an inferred shear zone adjacent to an outcropping folded Banded Iron Formation (BIF). The anomalous zones vary in size, ranging from approximately 400m by 500m to up to 1km by 500m and are continuous across sample lines. Significant anomalies were noted on the northern limb of the BIF.
The tenor and scale of these anomalies are compelling. Over the next week, comprehensive soil sampling, rock chip sampling, and mapping will be undertaken to refine the anomalies and establish drill targets.
Funding for exploration
The company has applied for funding under the West Australian Government's Exploration Incentive Scheme to support co-funded exploration drilling. The drilling aims to validate the VHMS (Volcanic Hosted Massive Sulphide) geological model and investigate geochemical targets identified from recent follow-up sampling.
SRN highlighted that the geological and structural setting of the Yidby East/Phat Boy area mirrors the Warrieddar fold belt.
SRN shares traded at AU$0.007 apiece on 16 September 2024.
