King River Resources Limited (ASX:KRR), an Australia-based mineral exploration company, holds a portfolio of tenements that are 100% owned, spanning around 6,641km2 in the Tennant Creek region of the Australian Northern Territory. Additionally, the company owns a separate portfolio of tenements covering approximately 351km2 in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. The company’s main projects include the Tennant East, Barkly, Rover East, and Kurundi.
The Tennant East project is located east of the main Tennant Gold Field, focusing on targets such as Langrenus, Providence, Commitment, Kuiper, and Pioneer. Recent RC drilling by KRR has led to the discovery of the Warramunga formation, ironstones, and iron alteration zones at three new locations.
The Barkly project features shallow Cambrian cover and is interpreted to host Warramunga equivalent units. It is characterised by multiple VTEM and magnetic targets, making it a promising area for further exploration and potential mineral discovery.
Rover East covers the eastern extensions of the Rover Field geophysical units, with key targets including BIF Hill East, Anomaly 2, and extensions of Explorer 42. The area is situated near known mineralised ironstones.
The Kurundi project is known for numerous historical diggings and gold nugget finds. A high-grade rock chip sample from the Priesters returned an impressive 49.5g/t Au. Recent RC drilling has revealed new high-grade gold zones at the project.
New Discoveries Drive Exploration Confidence
KRR’s exploration efforts have confirmed the presence of Warramunga equivalent rocks beneath shallow Cambrian cover across multiple target areas. This validation of the Cambrian cover's shallow depth, combined with the intersection of significant structures, iron alteration zones, and geochemically anomalous ironstones, has provided notable prospects for follow-up work.
The ongoing persistence of mineralisation and structure at Kurundi has bolstered confidence in other gold targets within the Kurundi project, particularly those hosted by Ooradidgee group rocks. By utilising multiple geophysical techniques alongside geological interpretations and predictive models, KRR has identified high-quality exploration targets. In addition, there are several promising geophysical targets yet to be tested and drilling is set to begin at Kurundi in April 2025.
The share price of KRR was AUD 0.007 at the time of writing on 09 April 2025.
