Highlights

  • Highest gold grade to date has been returned through rock chip sampling at the Attina Cu-Au prospect within the Ardmore tenement.
  • Sample MER386 assayed 52.8g/t Au with 12.35% Cu.
  • At the Solo Cu-Au prospect, pXRF soil sampling identified two copper-in-soil anomalies, each nearly 300m long.

Cooper Metals Limited (ASX: CPM) has shared an exciting exploration update on two new Cu-Au prospects in the Ardmore tenement, part of the Mt Isa East Cu-Au prospect. These  prospects were discovered through geochemical sampling and mapping of prospective areas within the tenement.

The two new prospects, Attina and Solo, have reported promising Cu-Au anomalism in soils.

Rock chip sampling at the Attina prospect yielded the highest gold assay to date amongthe company’s 500-plus rock chips gathered over the past three years at the project. Sample MER386 stood out with an impressive assay of 52.8g/t Au and 12.35% Cu. From Attina, 23 rock chips have been collected to date, with most samples having >1% Cu, and three samples reporting >1g/t Au.

The Solo Cu-Au prospect has also reported significant results, with pXRF soil sampling identifying two copper-in-soil anomalies, each approximately 300m long.

Promising mineralisation reported at Attina prospect

The company identified the Attina prospect as a target in 2023 while conducting an independent desktop prospectivity review over the tenement EPM19125. The prospect is situated near the Mt Hope deposit of ASX-listed Carnaby and includes sub crop of a discontinuous line of gossanous quartz veins which varies in width from 1m to 5m, traced for maximum 700m.

The pXRF soil grid measures approximately 800m wide (east-west) and 600m long (north-south), and samples were collected every 30m along the line.

The most significant soil anomaly detected was 0.4% Cu, located at the centre of the grid. This peak anomaly is adjacent to gossanous rock chip sample MER163, which has returned assays of 7.47% Cu and 0.31 g/t Au.

The anomalous copper area features quartz veining and gossanous mineralisation in the core of the soil anomaly, extending over 300m with copper concentrations exceeding 500 ppm.

To further explore gold distribution in the area, the company has submitted 65 soil samples for laboratory analysis. The copper core of the soil anomaly has coincident anomalous gold of up to 307ppb Au, suggesting significant mineralising fluids in the area.

Copper anomalies reported at Solo Cu-Au prospect

The Solo Cu-Au prospect was also discovered while undertaking the independent desktop prospectivity review. Preliminary pXRF soil sampling at the prospect reported two copper anomalies, with eastern anomaly being stronger. The eastern anomaly aligns with the main granite Corella contact zone and extends almost 300m long with copper mineralisation of 500 ppm in soil.

Assays are pending for other rock chips as only one rock chip has been collected from the site so far.

The company is required to conduct additional sampling to determine the copper anomalism source at Solo and extension of the soil grid.

CPM shares jump

CPM shares traded at AU$0.074 apiece, up over 4%, at the time of writing in the morning hours on 20 June 2024.
